Author forms group for memoir writers

Capitalizing on the popularity of memoirs, one Berkeley, Calif. writer is starting a new professional literary society to promote structure in writing them. The National Association of Memoir Writers, launched May 1, is the brainchild of Linda Joy Myers. Independent booksellers report that memoirs are one of the strongest sellers in the biography category. A December 2007 study by market research firm Simba Information, reported that memoirs account for 20 percent of sales in biographies, following history bios which topped sales at 22.1 percent.
